Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how MyWealthLens ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our websites at mywealthlens.co.za and mywealthlens.com, and our Pro subscription service.

We comply with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who we are

2. What data we collect

Free calculator users: Your calculator inputs and results stay in your browser โ€” they are never stored on our servers. However, when you visit any page on our site, the following non-essential tracking technologies are active by default: Meta (Facebook) Pixel, Google Ads tag, and Cloudflare Web Analytics. These collect basic visit information (page URL, IP address, browser type, referrer) for advertising attribution and site analytics. See Section 5 (Third-party services) and Section 8 (Cookies and trackers) for full details and opt-out options.

If you tick the marketing consent checkbox, your email and consent state are stored in our marketing-subscribers database (Supabase). If you do not tick it, your email address is used only to send the scenario email and is not stored on our servers, though Resend (our email provider) retains delivery logs for up to 90 days per their privacy policy.

What marketing-list subscribers receive: If you opt in to marketing communications, you will receive a nurture sequence of approximately 8 educational emails over 90 days (covering topics like real vs nominal returns, retirement income planning, and tax-efficient investing in South Africa). Each email contains a one-click unsubscribe link and is also recorded with a List-Unsubscribe header so it can be unsubscribed via your email client. We track which nurture emails have been sent to you (in our nurture_emails_sent table) and whether each was opened โ€” open tracking is performed by our email provider Resend via a standard 1ร—1 tracking pixel in the email body, and is used solely to decide whether to send re-engagement emails (Day 60 / Day 90 are only sent to subscribers who opened โ‰ค1 prior email). Pro subscribers are automatically excluded from this sequence. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email or by emailing support@mywealthlens.co.za.

Promo code redemptions: From time to time we may include promotional discount codes in marketing emails (e.g. a discounted first month of Pro). When a code is redeemed, we record the redemption in our promo_redemptions table (the code, your email, and the redemption timestamp) to enforce single-use per recipient. This is processed under legitimate interest in preventing fraudulent reuse of one-time discounts.

3. How we use your data

We do not use your data for marketing without your explicit consent, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

Disabling functional cookies will log you out of your Pro account. Disabling advertising cookies will not affect your use of the site.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, encrypted authentication tokens, and row-level security on our database. Payment card data is handled exclusively by PayFast โ€” we never see or store it.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify Pro subscribers of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
